Soweto Golf Cup was launched in 2013 with a primary objective to host a professional golf tournament in the township that will make a difference in our society. It is a One-day PGA of South Africa sanctioned tournament, which brings South Africans together from different walks of life and contributes transformation of the sport. Soweto Golf Cup has become a prominent fixture in South Africa’s golf calendar and has proved successful for corporate hospitality and marketing platform.
PREVIOUS WINNERS Top PGA of South Africa players are invited according to order of meritrankings to challenge forthe prestigious title.
Hosting of the tournament in Soweto makes a signicant impact in the community.
Introduced a policy to procure products and services from local based enterprises, thus supporting township economy.
Promote Soweto Country as a viable golf tourist destination via national media coverage.
Launched Gauteng Junior Golf Series to inspire young stars to reach their potential and hosting beginners’ golf clinic. Equipment, apparels and machinery has been donated over the years towards golf development.
Job creation is atthe heart of organising the tournament, a total of 120 unemployed people have an opportunity to work and earn an income.
